THE BLACK BELT
LEGACY

A Recognition Beyond Rank
A recognition reserved for practitioners who have demonstrated the dedication, character, discipline, and commitment required to carry the traditions of Ryukyu Shorinji-Ryu Karate-Jutsu forward.
Earned Through Character   •   Honored Through Tradition   •   Carried Forward Through Responsibility

A Recognition That Must Be Earned

The Black Belt Club of the Ryukyu Shorinji-Ryu Karate Association exists to recognize practitioners whose commitment to the art has gone beyond simply achieving a rank.

Black belt represents an important milestone in the martial arts journey. Membership in the Black Belt Club represents something further—the recognition that a practitioner has demonstrated the maturity, dedication, character, and continued commitment necessary to help preserve the traditions of the system.

Membership is therefore not automatically granted with the attainment of black belt. It is a distinction that must be earned through consistent actions, continued study, personal conduct, and devotion to the art.

Ryukyu Shorinji-Ryu Karate-Jutsu Black Belt Club Patch

The Worn Patch

The Black Belt Club patch is the physical representation worn by recognized members. It is a visible sign of having earned a place within the club.

The patch is not simply decoration. Wearing it represents the standards, traditions, and responsibilities expected of a Black Belt Club member.

How Membership Is Earned

Membership in the Black Belt Club is not requested, purchased, or automatically received because of rank. Recognition comes through demonstrated commitment over time.

A practitioner must demonstrate through conduct and continued training that he or she understands the responsibility associated with representing the tradition.

Consistent Training A demonstrated commitment to continued study, practice, and improvement.
Character Personal conduct that reflects humility, respect, discipline, and integrity.
Perseverance The willingness to continue developing through challenges and adversity.
Preservation A sincere commitment to maintaining and responsibly transmitting the traditions of the system.

The Responsibility of Membership

Being recognized as a Black Belt Club member carries responsibilities. Members are entrusted with more than a title, emblem, or patch.

They are expected to continue developing themselves while helping protect the integrity of the art and the knowledge passed down through previous generations.

  • Uphold the traditions and principles of Ryukyu Shorinji-Ryu Karate-Jutsu.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal conduct and character.
  • Continue studying and refining technical knowledge.
  • Respect the instructors and lineage through whom the art was transmitted.
  • Help preserve authentic teachings for future generations.
  • Represent the Black Belt Club with humility, discipline, and responsibility.

Preserving a Living Tradition

The Black Belt Club is part of the continuing effort to preserve the teachings, traditions, and legacy of Ryukyu Shorinji-Ryu Karate-Jutsu.

Preservation is not simply about keeping historical information. It means continuing to study, understand, practice, and responsibly transmit the principles and techniques that have been entrusted to each generation.

Those who earn recognition within the Black Belt Club become part of that responsibility. Their journey does not end with recognition—it takes on a deeper purpose.
